Satpura
Extension Tour

Satpura lets you walk into tiger country. Jeep drives, boat safaris, and walking trails through one of Central India's quietest and most rewarding forest reserves.

Sloth Bear in Satpura

Tour Overview

Satpura is different from most Indian parks. It permits walking safaris and boat safaris alongside jeep drives, giving you closer contact with the forest and its wildlife than most reserves allow. The terrain is rugged, with sandstone gorges, dense sal and teak forest, and the Denwa River running along the park boundary.

Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Dogs, and Gaur all move through Satpura's forests. The park sees far fewer vehicles than Kanha or Bandhavgarh, making each safari quieter and more focused. Satpura works well as a standalone extension or as part of a longer Central India wildlife route.

  • Walking safaris permitted inside a tiger reserve, rare in India
  • Boat safaris along the Denwa River through forest and gorge terrain
  • Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, and Wild Dogs in dense forest habitat
  • Sandstone gorges, sal and teak forest, and riverine landscapes
  • Far fewer vehicles than other Central India parks
  • Three full days of varied safari formats across different zones
  • Easy flight connection from Delhi to Bhopal
  • One of Central India's least crowded and most rewarding wildlife reserves

You fly from Delhi to Bhopal and drive to Satpura, around 150 kilometres through Madhya Pradesh. You check in on arrival and head out for an evening safari. The sal and teak forest is active at this hour and the sandstone gorge terrain gives Satpura a character different from any other Central India park.

Morning and Evening Safaris at Satpura

A full day of safaris inside Satpura. The morning session covers core forest zones where Tigers and Sloth Bears move through the undergrowth. Wild Dogs, Gaur, and Leopards are regular sightings across different areas of the park. The evening safari picks up different terrain and light. Satpura runs far fewer vehicles than most Central India reserves, keeping each drive quiet and unhurried.

Day 3

Morning and Evening Safaris in a Different Zone

A third day of safaris covering new areas inside Satpura. The park's varied terrain rewards multiple days. Walking safari or boat safari options may be available depending on season and availability. The Denwa River edges give strong sightings of waterbirds and mammals coming to drink. Tigers and Leopards move through the gorge country in the early morning hours.
