Sasan Gir
Extension Tour
The last wild Asiatic Lions live here. Three days of safaris inside Gir, the only place on earth where you can see them in the wild.

Tour Overview
Gir National Park sits in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, around 70 kilometres from Rajkot. This 4-day extension gives you three full days of safaris inside the only habitat of wild Asiatic Lions in the world.
Gir holds around 700 Asiatic Lions across the sanctuary and its surrounding landscape. The forest is dry and deciduous, with teak, flame of the forest, and open scrub giving way to rocky ridges and seasonal streams. Lion sightings here are genuine and frequent. The cats move in prides and are well habituated to safari vehicles.
Leopards, Hyenas, Jungle Cats, and over 300 bird species share the park with the lions. The Gir landscape is unlike any other Indian wildlife reserve, and the Asiatic Lion is found nowhere else on earth.

Day 1
Fly Delhi to Rajkot, Drive to Gir, Evening Safari
You fly from Delhi to Rajkot and drive to Gir, around 70 kilometres through the Saurashtra landscape. You check in on arrival and head out for an evening safari. The dry deciduous forest opens into scrub and rocky terrain as the light drops. Asiatic Lions are active in the late afternoon and evening sightings are strong across most zones.
Day 2
Morning and Evening Safaris at Gir
A full day of safaris inside Gir. The morning drive covers the core forest zones where Lion prides rest and move through the teak and scrub. Leopards, Hyenas, and Jungle Cats share the terrain and appear regularly across different areas. The evening safari picks up fresh movement as the temperature drops and the lions become active again across the open scrub.
Day 3
Morning and Evening Safaris in a Different Zone
A third day of safaris covering a new zone inside Gir. Different zones carry different lion concentrations and terrain. The rocky ridges and seasonal streambeds hold good wildlife movement in the early morning hours. Over 300 bird species move through the park and the forest edges are productive for birding between the larger sightings.
Day 4
Morning Safari, Drive to Rajkot, Fly Back to Delhi
One final morning safari before checkout. Lion prides are often found resting near water at this hour. You drive back to Rajkot after the safari and fly back to Delhi.
