Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is located in Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh and it is one of the most famous Tiger reserves of India. Bandhavgarh has one of the Highest Tiger densities in India as compared to many other Tiger reserves.
Spread in more than 1500 sq km, and having a core area of 715 sq km. Bandhavgarh has approximately 80-85 Tiger Population as per the last tiger census in 2014.

February to June is considered to be the best time to visit Bandhavgarh for a tiger sighting. However, November to January is also a favorable time as the weather remains pleasant during this time of the year.

Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve
Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve is located in the Nainital district in Uttarakhand and the total area of the reserve is around 1288 sq. km. Corbett Tiger Reserve is the oldest and the prime tiger reserve of the county. It is also the biggest tiger reserve of Uttrakhand.
It was declared in 1973 and was the first Tiger Reserve considered under Project Tiger in India by NTCA.
Corbett Tiger Reserve has approximately 215 tigers which makes it one of the most visited wildlife destinations in India with a great chance to spot a tiger.
Corbett is a haven for wildlife photographers and filmmakers because of its Tiger population and other notable wild species.

Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve remains open from mid-October to June. However, some gates of the park remain closed till November but most of the park is accessible from mid-October.

Ranthambore is one of the prime, most visited, and Picturesque Tiger Reserve of India. Located in the Sawai Madhopur region of Rajasthan, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve has spread in an area of 1411 sq. km.

Pench Tiger Reserve is the joint pride of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Located in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. Pench is the most popular Tiger Reserve of Central India as it shares its area among the two states. Pench is the smallest Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh.
Pench got its name from the River Pench which flows in the Reserve. Pench Tiger Reserve covers a total of 1192 sq km area in Madhya Pradesh and a total of 741 sq km including the core and the buffer area in Maharashtra.
Pench is the smallest Tiger Reserve in both Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Pench is also world famous because of its appearance in the story “The Jungle Book” in 1984.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve is one of the oldest Tiger reserves declared in 1974 by NTCA under Project Tiger. Bandipur Tiger Reserve is located in Karnataka and is one of the important parts of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in India.

Orang National Park, situated on the North bank of the river Brahmaputra in the Darrang and Sonitpur districts of Assam, is also famous as mini Kaziranga National Park and It was declared as a Tiger Reserve in April 1999. It covers a total area of 78.81 sq. km. The Orang has a variety of flora and fauna.
Orang Tiger Reserve becomes the reserve with the highest density of tigers in India. Endangered Bengal Tigers dwelling here are a joy to watch, as per the latest census, there is a rise in tiger population here. Orang is also famous for its Great Indian One-horned Rhinoceros.
Many reptiles including, turtles, tortoises, Indian rock python, King cobra are residents of the reserve. Various species of fish and birds can also be found in the reserve.

Manas Tiger Reserve
Manas Tiger Reserve, declared as a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, is positioned in Assam, India. A common border is shared between Manas Tiger Reserve and Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan. The Park inherited its name from the Manas River, which was named after the Goddess of Snake Manasa.
The Park area falls between Chirang and Baksa Districts in Assam, and it covers an area of 950 sq. km. The estimated population of the tigers at Manas is numbered to be more than 30.
Bengal Tigers, Barasingha, Indian Leopards, Sambar deer, are some of the main residents of the Manas Tiger Reserve. Some endangered animals like Assam Roofed Turtle and Pygmy hog are also found in Reserve.

Anamalai Tiger Reserve earlier was known as Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary. This Reserve is located in the Anaimalai Hills of Pollachi and Valparai Taluks of Coimbatore district and Udumalaipettai Taluk in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu.
Presently, the Reserve occupies a total area of 1479.87 sq. km. The Park is named after former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi visited this park.
The mean annual rainfall here is between 500 millimeters and 4500 millimeters. Mostly, the endangered animals here are Bengal Tiger, Indian Elephant, and Indian Leopard.

The Bengal Tigers, Indian Leopards, the Sloth Bear, Swamp Deer (Barasingha), Indian wild dogs, are the major attraction at Kanha. It is the first Tiger reserve that officially introduces a mascot, “Bhoorsingh the Barasingha”.

Mid October to June end is the best time to visit Kanha Tiger Reserve. During monsoon season, the park is closed, as the roads are not navigable and are filled with mud.

Sanjay-Dubri Tiger Reserve is located in the Siddhi district of Madhya Pradesh. The geographical area of the Sanjay-Dubri Tiger reserve is 1674 sq. km.
The reserve has rich flora and fauna. Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, spotted deer, sambar deer, porcupines are the major animals found here. There are around 309 species of birds residing here.

Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary are known as PNP. It is situated near Thekkady, in the Idukki, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala. The park consists of much rare flora and fauna and covers a protected area of 925 sq. km and 305 sq. km. of a core area.
The park mainly comprises and is an important Forest area for Bengal Tigers and Asian Elephants. In 2017, there were 35 Bengal Tigers in Periyar Tiger Reserve. Other animals dwelling here are sambar, wild pig, jungle cat, Travancore flying squirrel, and many more. Around 266 species of
birds reside here in the Park, including birds that migrated here.
The climate here varies accordingly. The temperature ranges between 15 Degree Celsius and 31 Degree Celsius, in the months of December and January, and in the months of April and May respectively.

Although Periyar can be visited in any season, September to April is the best time when people can visit Periyar National park. The special thing about this Park is, it is open in monsoon season too. So tourists can make a wildlife tour in monsoon as well in Periyar Tiger Reserve.
Bhadra Tiger Reserve
Bhadra Tiger Reserve is a part of Project Tiger and is situated at Lakkavalli in Karnataka, India. Hebbe Giri, located 1875 m above Mean Sea Level(MSL), is the highest peak in the Bhadra sanctuary. Initially, the Bhadra Wildlife sanctuary was known as the Jagara Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. An interesting fact about Bhadra is that it is the first Tiger Reserve in India which complete a successful village relocation program.
The habitat of teak and rosewood can be found abundantly in the sanctuary.
Considering fauna, elephants, gaur, small Indian civet, porcupine, tigers, leopard cat, etc. are found.
The estimated total of tigers residing in Bhadra is 33. Some reptiles sighted here are the common vine snakes, king cobra, olive keelback, etc.

Located in the Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh, India, Panna National Park is the fifth Tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh, while twenty-second in India. This is spread over an area of 542.67 sq. km.
Tigers, leopards, chital, chinkara, sambar, nilgai are the major animals found in Panna.
There are more than 200 species of birds that reside here.
There were over 40 tigers in Panna earlier, however, until June 2009, there were no tigers left, mainly due to poaching.
But at present, four tigers and 10 cubs are living in the Panna Tiger reserve and are regularly observed by the Forest Department.

The very best time to visit Panna National Park is from November to May. But considering the hot tropical climate, it is advisable not to visit during May. Also, a lot of birds can be sighted from November to January.

Kaziranga is home to one-horned rhinos, Tigers, Elephants, wild buffalos, swamp deer, and lots of birds. Kaziranga is spread in 1055 sq km, out of which 482 is core area and 573 is buffer area.

The tiger reserve, together with Bhairamgarh and Pamed Wildlife Sanctuaries, constitute the Indravati landscape.
It has connectivity with several tiger reserves, viz., Kawal (Telangana), Tadoba (Maharashtra), and Kanha (Madhya Pradesh).

Namdapha Tiger Reserve, located in Arunachal Pradesh, is a beautiful and diverse wildlife sanctuary established in 1983. It spans over 1,985 square kilometers, making it one of the largest protected areas in India.

Satpura Tiger Reserve A.K.A Satpura National park is situated in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Covering an area of 2,200sq.km, Satpura Tiger Reserve is humongous on its surface. It was established in 1981 by the government of Madhya Pradesh.
In 2019, the arrival of a new Tiger rises the population of Tiger in STR to 49. The same year, a Tigress gave birth to 4 cubs which are yet to be added to these numbers as they have not completed one year.
Satpura is said to be the best jungle to see sloth bears. Leopards, Wild Dogs, Giant Squirrels, Sambar deer are other animal attractions. Birds inhabiting this region include Hornbills Peacocks and more.

In July 2014, “Bor’’ was declared as Bor Tiger Reserve. It is located near Hingani in Wardha District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The reserve covers an area of 138km which includes the drainage basin of the Bor Dam. It is home to a variety of wild animals like Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Sambar, Chital, Monkey, Indian bison, Fox, Hyena, Sloth Bear, blue bull, chital, peacock, barking deer, mouse deer, monkeys, wild boar, and wild dog.
There are more than 160 species of birds belonging to 46 families of 16 different orders recorded in the sanctuary.
This includes over 10 species of migratory birds and over 9 species of endangered birds.

Here the most endangered species is the Asiatic Wild Buffalo. Other than tiger it includes the Indian Wolf, Leopard, Sloth Bear, and Mouse Deer.

The Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve lies in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts. It was founded in 1988 by joining the two sanctuaries of Kalakad and Mundanthurai, covering an area of 1601.542 square kilometers.

Spread over 1,071 square kilometers, Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary is a sanctuary that connects Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast with Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in the south.
The National Tiger Conservation Authority’s technical committee approved the proposal to turn the Ramgarh Vishdhary Sanctuary into a tiger reserve in 2021.
Over 300 square kilometers of the sanctuary is designated as important habitat for animals, with the remainder designated as a buffer zone.
Various Chital (spotted deers) has been relocated from Ghana Bird Sanctuary (Karauli) to Ramgarh Vishdhar in order to boost the prey base.
Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary

Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary borders the Srivilliputhur Grizzled Squirrel Sanctuary and the Periyar Tiger Reserve. This wildlife sanctuary serves as a buffer zone for the Periyar Tiger Reserve.
